Captains,
BlueHawk Virtual Airways has been using VAFS (Virtual Airline Financial Systems) ever since the beginning.
We all love it, but it has it's downs. First of all, it's not free. We pay around $6 monthly for it.
That's not bad, but free is the best. Secondly, VAFS does not support Linux or Mac, which lessens the pilots we could have.
So down to the point. I want us change our ACARS from VAFS, to FSE (Flight Sim Economy [or FSEconomy]).
It's free, WAY more realistic, can be used for private use as well as for an Airline or a club, can be used in all OS (I think), and supports FS2004, FSX, X-Plane 9 & 10.
FSE is very realistic.
You pay rent (realistic prices too!) for the aircraft you fly, repair fees, (sometimes) landing fees, you pay for fuel, you get paid for flying assignments found at FBOs located at some airports, and so much more!
It cannot be put in words, so I refer you to the website for further details.

It may look funny to make an airline in FSE, but that will all become simple as we (if we) switch to it. All you have to do is know how to use FSE personally, then flying for a group (BlueHawk Group) will be simple as 1-2-3!
Since FSE is mainly for GA and small jets, we will not be able to fly heavies with it until FSE adds them to the list. The A320, 737 and a few others are available, though.
We will have to use a different ACARS for our heavies, which will be easy enough.
For those of you that just HAVE to have VAFS, we will keep it ONLY if it is paid for by the pilots or by a certain volunteer.
As of now, I am setting up FSE to work on our website. It will be hidden, and simple, but it will be there and published when ready.
If anyone wishes to join the FSE side of BlueHawk now, and help me set it up, just shoot me an email at tobyrice01@gmail.com. Include your Full name, BHKXXX Callsign, email and FSE nickname, and I will put you in and set it up accordingly.
Our fleet in FSE will start by using rented aircraft from other FSE users, until we save enough to buy our own. We will use much of our fleet including C172, C208, Twin Otter, 737-800 and more.
I have started a section of our forums to the topic of FSE for you all to discuss this on. Please speak frankly, so we can make your experience here what you wanted the best!
If you have any questions or comments about this, please email me or reply to this thread.
See ya' in the skies!
