I've been doing a few flights using a Piper PA-34 Seneca II between Cameroon, over Nigeria and into Niger recently, and thought I would share this event with you! Some of the flights have involved very extreme thunderstorms, which nearly involved total loss of the aircraft due to microbursts. Luckily, I've managed to regain control just in time and managed to divert away from the worst of it and back to safety (although not always at the airport I intended to land at!) However, during one flight which was at night, I successfully managed to arrive at DRZF in Niger. Made my approach and lowered the undercarriage. To my horror, instead of seeing three green lights showing my undercarriage had deployed correctly, only two lights were lit. The nose wheel actuator has failed and there was no way to lower it, despite several attempts. Luckily, I managed to land safely, although I did misalign with the runway. Here is a picture in the morning afterwards.
